Lina Inverse doesn't care if her schemes blow up in her face, as long as they're funny getting there. The OVA treats every catastrophe like a setup waiting for the punchline, whether that's Naga accidentally becoming a fashion icon or Lina's kidnapping scam collapsing the moment it leaves her hands. Comedy this loose and character-driven works because nobody in this world takes their own disaster seriously.
These earlier escapades of Lina Inverse and Naga the Serpent show how the two rivals first crossed paths. After Naga sets a tavern on fire to get Lina's attention, the townspeople make them pay for the damage by rescuing villagers who went missing in a labyrinth, and the job brings them face to face with a vampire. Next, Lina signs on as bodyguard to Sirene, the pampered daughter of a wealthy man, who keeps blowing through Lina's advance pay. To teach her a lesson, Lina stages a fake kidnapping, but Sirene ends up with the wrong kidnappers, and Lina must join forces with Naga to get her back. Finally, two rival clothing designers discover Naga and want to make her their next big craze, putting Lina and Naga on opposing sides of a fashion war. The three episodes mix fantasy adventure with broad comedy.
