The cast chemistry hasn't aged a second, and you remember why you loved these characters the moment Lina opens her mouth. It's pure nostalgia done right: no need to catch up, no character reinvention, just four friends falling back into the same rhythm like no time passed at all. The problem is the story knows it doesn't have to try; the plot meanders where it should grip. If you're here for Lina, Gourry, Amelia, and Zelgadis being exactly who they were, you already bought your ticket.

After the Sword of Light is lost in an earlier battle, Lina and her companion Gourry take to the road again, looking for a weapon to replace it. While giving some pirates a hard time in the kingdom of Luvinagard, the pair run into their old friends Amelia and Zelgadis, and Lina is delighted to see them. The reunion is soon interrupted by Wizer, a special investigations inspector serving Luvinagard, whose odd conduct leaves Lina astonished. The thirteen-episode TV season mixes fantasy adventure with plenty of comedy.
