Episode one does the homework the TV run skipped, filling in character background before it drops you into "Then The Two Go to the Learning Dorm." After that it's Irori getting careless at the open air hot spring, Charlotte and Frey trapped in the fearsome bathroom, and Nadeshiko Akabane turning up in a midsummer night's dream that has no business hitting as hard as it does. There's real foreshadowing buried in here for anyone who caught it, and the final one actually lands an emotional beat. Nobody's pretending this is essential viewing, because it isn't. But if you finished the series and just wanted more time with Raishin and Yaya, five minutes a volume is a fair trade.
